THE NAME: “THE WELL”
“The Well” comes directly from John 4. In this passage, a Samaritan social-outcast woman encounters Jesus at a well. During the visit, Jesus shows love and grace to the woman who then has a life changing experience. Jesus tells the woman “…whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty forever. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (John 4:14). The woman returns to her town and tells everyone about Jesus. The Well is a gathering of people who worship the exalted Christ and seek to bring others into the life-giving relationship with Jesus.
